The famous Ethiopian
stew serving pot, Christian kitchen
version
During the Imperial times those serving pots for stews and trays for serving the national dish. Ingera, were very pupular. They were made out of enamel and the design theme was the three colours of the national flag, Imperial monograms and floral patterns.
The pots were cleverly marked for homes of Christian and Muslim families respectively. Here the red one belongs a Muslim household and the grey to a Christian.
