The lunchbox of our time
Growing up in Dessie my Elementary High school was
almost an hour’s walk from the house where I lived with
my grandmother. On my left hand, I had this lunchbox
nicely wrapped in a floral piece of garment and on my
right hand my exercise books. The walk in the early morning used to be scorching cold.During lunchtime, we gather in groups to eat, sitting in the lush green grass. The content of the lunchbox depends on the economy of the family from where the lunchbox comes from. But it didn’t matter much. We shared what we have with a jolly-good appetite. After we are done with lunch we didn’t litter. If we have a cent to spare we enjoyed a good spiced tea at the school’s tea house.
Glory days!
